Tell Texas lawmakers: As a faith leader, I oppose HB 4105. Sign your name to the letter below.
We are Texas clergy and religious leaders, from many faiths and traditions. We represent religious institutions, organizations, and affiliations throughout our state.
Our faith has taught us the values of love, welcome and inclusion. We live out these values by loving God and loving our neighbors. That is why we must lift up our voices against HB 4105 — and in support of the freedom to marry.
We are hopeful that the U.S. Supreme Court this summer will rule in favor of the freedom to marry and make that right available to all Texans. And should that happen, we would expect our state government to obey the law of the land.
However, HB 4105 would attempt to deny the freedom to marry to committed, loving couples in Texas by prohibiting state or local funds to be used to recognize same-sex marriage.
This is not only unconstitutional, it is morally wrong.
We are all God's children, created in God's image. And we believe it is time for our government to respect the dignity of all Texas families by giving same-sex couples the right to marriage. I ask you to vote against HB 4105.
