Tell your legislators to oppose anti-LGBT amendments

With only days to go in the 84th Legislative Session, opponents of LGBT equality are not backing down, and neither can we.  Rep. Scott Sanford (R-McKinney) and Senator Eddie Lucio (D-Brownsville) are using 11th-hour tactics to revive mean-spirited, discriminatory bills as last-minute amendments. Rep. Sanford has filed an amendment to a bill in the House that would permit child welfare workers  to refuse to place a child with a qualified family if that family doesn’t meet the worker’s personal religious or moral criteria. Sen. Lucio's amendment to a bill in the Senate would bar the state from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples or recognizing their marriages no matter what the Supreme Court rules. With these two amendments, Sanford and Lucio are telling LGBT Texans that they are unworthy of the dignity marriage confers and unfit for parenthood.
